California Voter Registration

If you are

  • a citizen of the United States
  • a resident of California
  • at least 18 years of age at the time of the next election
  • not imprisoned or on parole for the conviction of a felony
  • not currently judged mentally incompetent by a court of law

and have registered at least 15 days before an election, you are eligible to vote in that election.

If you have changed your address, you must re-register.

Registration forms are available at post offices, libraries and Department of Motor Vehicles offices in Los Angeles County.

  • The form is already addressed and does not require a stamp. Fill it out, tear it off from the instruction part and mail it in.
  • You will be sent ballot information, including an application for an absentee ballot, before the next election.

You can also download a voter registration form  (a 1.2 Mb pdf file). In this case you will have to address it and provide postage.
