Club Video Workshop Wins Multiple Awards At
Amateur Videographers Festival
BURBANK, Calif. (November 2008) -- Members of the Los
Angeles Cinema Club (LACC) won 19 awards at the Annual Festival of Combined Amateur
Videographers held at the Holiday Inn Buena Park. The Festival was hosted by the Southern
California Association of Video Clubs for the Amateur Movie Makers Association (AMMA), The
American Motion Picture Society (AMPS) and The Ten Best Of the West (TBW) sponsors of the
annual event.
There were four individual contests held during the festival including The American
International Film & Video Festival, the oldest continuously run contest in the United
States. The additional contests were the AMMA International Movie Contest, the AMMA Magic
Moments Contest (for one-minute movies) and the Ten Best Of The West (for films produced
west of the Mississippi). Additional social and educational events were held during the
two-day event.
Members of the local video club LACC won honors in all four contests.
LACC Members produced 3 videos winning Honorable Mention in the AMPS American
International Film & Video competition. Club members also produced three of the top
ten videos in the AMMA International Movie Contest and one receiving an Honorable Mention.
In AMMA's Magic Moments contest LACC members placed 1st and 2nd. In the Final contest, The
Ten Best in the West, club members produced four of the top ten videos.
LACC began in 1931 and it is one of the largest amateur film and video clubs in the
country. The amateur photo club, which has met in Burbank for over a year now, is a social
and special interest group made up of beginners and experienced filmmakers including many
international and national contest winners. Although the group primarily works in video
formats now, members also work in color slides and film. The group is open to visitors who
make films, edit films and enjoy showing and/or watching them.
