2007-08
Peace Poster Contest
Peace Around the World was the theme for the 2007-08 International Peace
Poster contest. Sponsored by the Burbank Noon Lions, it is part of the first level of
international competition.
The Peace Poster contest was established by Lions Clubs International to
promote the awareness of world peace internationally, among youth. Burbank Government
officials, students, teachers, Lions and parents gathered in the Burbank Central Library
for the awards presentation to honor the winners from two Burbank Middle schools and the
Boys and Girls Club taking part in the 2007 contest. This is the 12th year the Burbank
Noon Lions Club has sponsored the project in Burbank. Winners of this competition had the
opportunity to proceed to the next level. After judging at all levels around the world,
there will be 23 Merit winners (receiving $500) and One Top winner, receiving $2,500 and a
trip to the United Nations in New York City. All Burbank student entries were on display
in the Burbank Central Library, followed by a stint at IndyMac Bank on San Fernando Rd by
the Vons center. Last years "international" winner was a student sponsored
by the Tarzana Lions Club.
