Peace Poster Contest
Exhibiting their winning posters, four middle school students were recognized at the sponsoring Burbank Noon Lions award ceremony held at the Burbank Central Library. The contest annually invites middle school students to create a poster symbolizing what "peace" means to them.
The three public middle schools and middle school aged attendees at the Boys and Girls Club of Burbank participated with each location selecting one winner. The winners shown here are as follows (L-R) Rachel Lazo from John Muir Middle School, Elijah Espada from Luther Burbank Middle School, Vanessa Chelebyan from Boys & Girls Club of Burbank and Ashley Zipperman from Jordan Middle School.
Councilwoman Marsha Ramos (at the time of presentation) personally presented Burbank City commendations to the winners. A U.S. Savings bond was also given to each winner by the Lions Club, free course at the Animation Academy and area politicians sent field representatives to honor the students as well.
Following the ceremony, winning posters were sent onto the next level to be judged for the international competition. Remaining entries were on exhibit in the Library, followed by a display at IndyMac Bank in Burbank
