The resident cat sure was surprised when Lion Bud
Alleman’s (King, King, Alleman & Jensen) dog appeared
around a corner inside Beverly Manor Convalescent Hospital
just before Christmas. Brought by the Allemans to help greet
the patients residing at the hospital, the dog wagged its
tail and happily joined with the rest of club members for
the annual Beverly Manor Christmas party.
Loaded down with soft, comfy lap blankets and Santa
bringing up the rear, club members wished each patient
“Happy Holidays” and presented them with one of the
blankets.
Just days before, members of Burbank Noon were seen
ringing the Salvation Army bell in front of Fry’s
Electronics in Burbank. As part of the annual Red Kettle
Day events, service clubs donate their time to ringing
the bell at various locations around the city, eliminating
the Salvation Army’s cost for bell ringers on this day. A
special apron with the Lions Club name on it was provided by
the Salvation Army to be worn by the member, while
volunteering for their one-hour shift. The apron helped
acquaint the passersby with the Burbank Nooner’s support
and volunteer work in the community. |
