"BURBANK TOP AWARD FOR CITIZENSHIP”
A “NIGHT IN TUSCANY"
The Burbank Temporary Aid Center is holding its fifth annual “Burbank’s Top
Award for Citizenship” gala event on Friday March 7, and tickets are now
available.
“This is our chance to thank those in the community who go far above and
beyond to serve every citizen in Burbank,” said Vicki Williams, a member of
BTAC’s Board of Directors, and Chair of the event. “And it has always been
important to us that we offer an event that not only helps raise money for our
activities year round, but one people really look forward to and enjoy
attending.”
This year’s honorees include Sue Georgino, Director of Burbank’s Community
Development Department.
“With as much as Sue Georgino does for all of us in her City Hall role, she is
also well known for the long list of service organizations, humanitarian groups
and similar efforts in Burbank that she somehow finds time to support and work
with in her personal life,” said Williams.
The event’s second honoree is actually an amalgam of the many programs
conducted by the Burbank Unified School District and it staff, teachers and
students that directly support BTAC.
“From high school students permitted to work with us as volunteers under the
district’s community service plan, to middle school groups collecting food for
our pantry, to the elementary school kids who plant gardens so our clients can
enjoy fresh produce, we have almost daily reminders of how important the BUSD is
to us,” said BTAC Executive Director Barbara Howell.
The gala, which this year boasts the theme “A Night in Tuscany,” will begin
in the Verdugo Room of the Castaway Restaurant with cocktails, a raffle, and a
silent auction beginning at 5:30pm. Dinner will be served in the Starlight Room,
followed by the presentation of awards, a live auction, and then dancing.
Tickets are $100, and can be purchased by calling BTAC at (818) 848-2822, ext.
110. BTAC is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, and a portion of the ticket
price is tax deductible.

Founded in 1974, The Burbank Temporary Aid Center is a charitable nonprofit
organization, 501 (c) (3), dedicated to providing assistance for the homeless
and working poor in Burbank, and to area seniors and crime victims.
BTAC services include distributing groceries and consumable supplies to families

during the holidays provides holiday meals and gifts to hundreds of Burbank
families in need. As finances permit, BTAC also provides limited assistance for
medical problems and prescription medications.
